The Maker The story behind the Craft

I am a bladesmith and artisan based in Nurmijärvi, Finland. By day, I design and build digital infrastructure as a telecommunications architect. It is a world where the results of your work become invisible in cyberspace and disappears entirely after 5-10 years. As a counterweight to that, I needed something concrete, physical, and genuinely permanent.
By education, I am a trained ICT mechanic. The physics of materials, the laws of geometry, and the mastery of machines are second nature to me, but knifemaking also demands the kind of millimeter-precise micromechanics and artistic eye that has completely captivated me.
Jayn, which I founded, does not engage or seek in mass production to gather dust in a warehouse. At my workshop in Nurmijärvi, I create unique puukko knives where raw carbon steel, beautifully grained hardwoods, and traditional metals meet in a clean, modern form.
To me, a great knife is not just an object in a display case, but a tool made for a person – an extension of the hand, where the ergonomics and balance must be perfect. It is a stripped-back, functional, and beautiful object that requires no software updates and will still carry its maker's mark a century from now.
